How to work with me

This is how I work best. You will have your own habits and commitments too. Knowing a little about each other’s needs helps us find a way to work together.

How I think

I like to hear people out before offering a view. Sometimes that means I am quiet while I take things in. You can always ask me to share what I am thinking.

I think in writing. After we talk, I send back what I understood so we can catch a misunderstanding before it becomes part of the work.

What helps

Understanding the problem, why it matters and what needs to change gives me a starting point. From there, I bring my experience and judgement to the approach. It helps to know the constraints and decisions already made, while leaving room to explore how we reach the outcome.

I value direct conversation. If something misses the mark, tell me what concerns you. We can look at the reasoning together and decide what needs to change.

Before we start, we agree in writing on the scope, cost, roles and how either of us can bring the arrangement to an end.

How I communicate

For a casual question, I ask how much detail would help. When we are working together, I explain my view and the reasons behind it, so we have something to discuss.

Most communication happens asynchronously through shared tools. We keep progress, questions and decisions in one place, so we can each give the work our attention. When something needs a conversation, we make time for one.

I acknowledge new requests within one working day. In that first reply, I confirm what I understood, ask for anything I need, and let you know when to expect the details you have asked for. I update you on that date.

Knowing when the next update is coming gives you a clear point to expect news and gives me time to move the work forward.

I set aside time to answer messages between work blocks. If someone is blocked today, let me know so I can respond sooner. Decisions about scope, cost or dates get a night’s thought before I commit.

How I work

I keep mornings for focused work and arrange meetings later in the day, unless something urgent needs a conversation. Each work block has one task and a time limit. I plan another block for anything unfinished. When priorities change, we look at what needs attention and agree what can move.

A quiet day after a big delivery is part of the job. I usually finish at 5 pm Nepal time, Monday to Friday. That is 6:15 am US Eastern, or 7:15 am in daylight saving time, and 12:15 pm Central European, or 1:15 pm in summer time. Calls are scheduled separately on Wednesdays and Fridays, taking both our schedules into account.

Book a 30-minute meeting. The booking page shows available times in your time zone.

Later messages wait until the next working morning. Weekends are time off.

At each handover, I write down what we agreed, the decisions and their reasons, what I left out and why, and what needs your attention next.

I keep it small

You work directly with me. Depending on the project, I do the work myself or bring in people I have worked with for years and lead the delivery. We agree who does what before we start, and I remain your main point of contact.

When a colleague contributes updates, we agree when you can expect a reply and which decisions come back to me. I stay responsible for scope, cost and how we end the arrangement. You meet me at the start and at the handover.

If something here would make working together difficult, let us talk about it before we start. We can understand what each of us needs and agree what is workable.
